General Class on the 28th of November

There will be a general class on the 28th of November led by Jean-Marc Duclos Sensei. The class will take place on Estádio Universitário de Lisboa from 16:00 to 18:00.

Experimentation Classes

Everyone is welcome to try two classes. It's just necessary to bring confortable clothing and be prepared 10 minutes before the class starts.

Necessary Equipment

List of necessary equipment to practise Aikido:

- keikogi (or just gi) white and without insignias;
- white belt;
- bokken (japanese wooden sabre), preferably non-varnished.
- jo (wooden stick about1,28m long).
- tanto (wooden dagger).


These items can be easily found in martial art shops, in some larger sport shops and also on the internet.

Beginning of the classes

On 1st of October an Aikido class oriented by Ruben Cabral, a student of Jean-Marc Duclos sensei, will start in "Junta de Freguesia da Pena" gymnasium.

Aikido is a japanese martial created by Morihei Ueshiba Sensei (1883-1969), that uses fluid circular movements, based on the techniques of the samurai warrirors, to preserve the physical integrity of both the attached and the attacker. Aikido may be practised independently of gender or age.

The classes will have two components:
Tachi Waza (bare hand techniques);
Buki Waza (with tradicional wooden japanese weapons):

- bokken (wooden sabre);
- jo (wooden stick);
- tanto (wooden dagger).

The schedule will be Tuesdays from 7:00pm to 9:00pm (tachi waza class) and Thursdays from 8:00pm to 9:15pm (buki waza class). The classes are open to people over 16 years old. To try a class it is only necessary to use a confortable clothing and be prepared 10 minuntes before the class starts.

It is necessary to have an ensurance that covers the practice of martial arts and medical prove that the person can practice physical activity.
